Would you like to send an order to collagesColor™ through ROES that is not associated with a reprint order? Sending new or in studio print orders to collagesColor™ through ROES has never been easier.

To send a new or in studio print order, follow these five easy steps:

1. Select the size you would like to associate with the first item in your print order using the Sizes Palette.
2. To locate images on your computer, click the Folder button and locate the folder in which your images are stored.
3. Drag and drop the image you would like to purchase in to the palette on the left side of the ROES ordering interface.
4. Repeat this process until you have completed your order and click the Review Order button to continue the ordering process. Review your order and item details and ensure that your shipping and billing information is entered correctly.
5. Click the Complete Order button and your images will upload and send to collagesColor™ for printing.

Are you familiar with our ROES ordering system? Before you place an order through this system, you will need to associate your prices to the products offered by our collagesColor lab.

To associate your price list in ROES, log in to ROES, click on the Sizes button and then on Show Sizes Palette. Next, click on the Collages.net button and then on the Price Lists tab. You can select your desired Collages.net price list to begin associating your prices to our products. Return to the Sizes Palette, select the product group from which you would like to associate your prices, locate your desired product, and simply drag and drop each product on top of the question mark icon above your price. Make sure that all of your prices are associated with Collages.net products by ensuring there are no question mark icons above your prices. Fulfilling Reprint Orders through ROES

Using Collages.net’s new ROES ordering system, you can send your reprint orders to collagesColor in just a few simple steps.

To send a reprint order to collagesColor through ROES, click on the Collages.net button in ROES and click on the Get Orders button. Your pending reprint orders will populate under the Orders tab. To send an order to collagesColor, simply double click on the order, view and confirm your client’s information and your order will populate in the ROES ordering system. Any edits can be made to your client’s order before sending it to collagesColor for printing. Once you review your order, edit your order details, select your shipping method, select your payment type, and if necessary, edit your shipping details. You can then send the final order to collagesColor by clicking the Complete Order button.

Marketing Tip - Event E-mail Notifications

Collages.net sends out three notification e-mails throughout the duration of all event sites. To help streamline your workflow, Collages.net offers three methods of importing guest e-mail addresses.

In collagesDesktop, there are two options for importing e-mail addresses. You can enter e-mails individually or import e-mails from a file on your PC. To enter e-mails individually, in Website Details, select Add E-mail and enter each e-mail address individually. To import e-mails from either Microsoft® Excel or Microsoft® Word documents through collagesDesktop, select Import in your Website Details, navigate to the document containing the e-mail addresses for the event and select Open. The e-mails will populate in the list. Select OK when you are finished. Please note that all e-mail addresses must be separated by a comma.

In the Web Workflow, e-mail addresses can be added individually by entering in to the workflow of your event and by clicking on Enter Additional E-mails.

Web Workflow and collagesDesktop users also have the option of faxing e-mails to be entered by Collages.net’s Production Team. You can fax us your list of e-mail addresses and we will be happy to enter them for you at no additional cost. Order Press Printed Books Using Event Images

Did you know that you can order a press printed book using the images you’ve already posted to an event site?

Instead of uploading your images for a second time, you can save time by using event images when creating a press printed book for your client. To order a press printed book using event images, log in to the press printed book ordering system and click Order Now. Complete the first four steps and read each bullet point outlined in the fifth step. If the option to use event images is available for the size and options you chose, select the Use Event Images option. You can either search for an event or select an event from the drop down menu and your images will import in to the ordering system. When you choose to use event images in your press printed book, your photos will be printed in the order in which they are categorized on the site. Tech Tip - Add or Remove Images from an Event Site

Did you know that you can add or remove images from Express Workflow and Web Workflow event sites at any time?

If you uploaded your event using the Express Workflow through collagesDesktop, please complete the following steps:

To remove images, log in to collagesDesktop and enter the workflow of your desired event. Click on the category that contains the image you would like to delete. Click the delete button (a circle with a blue X inside) and your image will be removed. To save these changes, click the Save button above your category listing.

To add images, log in to collagesDesktop and enter the workflow of your desired event. Click the Edit Event Info button and then on the Images tab. Select the option to Click Here to Browse for Images and locate the folder in which your new images are stored. Import your images and click the Finish button. Categorize your images as necessary and click the Save button to process and upload the new images.

If you uploaded your event using the Web Workflow through your Admin Area, please complete the following steps:

To remove images, log in to your Admin Area and enter the workflow of your desired event. Click on the option to Re-Organize Images and click on the Product Selector tab. Locate and highlight the image you would like to delete, click on the Delete button, and select the option to Remove Selected from Web Site. Repeat this process as needed and click the Save and then Back to Workflow buttons.

To add images, log in to your Admin Area and enter the workflow of your desired event. Click on the option to Add New Images and the upload tool will appear. Your event information will automatically populate and you will need to click the Browse for Folders button. Locate the folder in which your new images are located and add the images to the upload. Click the Upload Events button and once your images have uploaded, enter into the workflow of the event and re-organize your images as needed.

Please note: You cannot add or remove images from Full Service sites.

Tech Tip - Create a Custom Password

When you create an event site using collagesDesktop or the Webtool, you can provide even more security on your sites by creating a custom password. Custom passwords are used as an add-on to your existing password and will not replace your original password. For example, if your existing password is 99999, you can add additional letters or numbers on to your password for one particular site. A custom password could be 99999-Smith, 99999-12345, or any combination of letters and numbers that you can imagine! Your clients will log in as they normally would, but would use the custom password you created.

To create a custom password for your event site, log in to your online Admin Area, click on the Event Manager tab, and enter the workflow of your desired event. From there, click on the Edit Event Info option. Type in your custom password as a suffix to your existing password and click the Update button and then the Back to Workflow button.

Here are 3 of our favorite tips from the article:

1. Sell to Current Clients: it is much more difficult and expensive to obtain new clients than sell to existing ones. Instead of focusing large amounts of time and money targeting new clients, shift your focus on selling more to your current clientele.
2. Create a Loyalty Program: reward clients for their business, and provide them with incentive to use your studio again. Give loyal customers discounts, free products or sessions, or another type of bonus to thank them for their business and keep them coming back.
3. Keep in Touch: make sure to keep in touch with past clients – whether it’s through email, flyers, or even a personal phone call – it will remind them of your studio’s friendly, caring attitude. PPA Board Member Spotlight : Kevin Casey

Releasing Digital Files

Last month, an interesting article about releasing digital files appeared in Professional Photographer magazine. Many photographers are currently struggling with the decision whether or not to release these files to their clients, making it a controversial issue. Some do so without discretion, some for a price, and others not at all. The range is diverse. However, a survey included with the article revealed that 80% of photographers do sell, give away, or deliver digital files to clients in some way.

Would a client recognize your logo if they saw it? Ensure that the answer is always "yes" by using your studio logo as a marketing tool.

• Emboss it on the back of albums. Every time someone looks at them, they will be reminded of the studio who took the phenomenal images.
• Have your logo printed on the back of the high-end greeting cards your clients order. Next holiday season, their friends and family will know who to call!
• In any advertising you do, including e-mails, be sure to include your logo. The more exposure the logo gets, the more people will recognize your studio.

Tech Tip #1 - Have Your Webshow Play According to Category

If you would like your webshow to flow in the same order as the categories, there is no need to rename your files to do so. With just two simple steps, your webshow can play according to your categories i.e. the first image of your first category will play first, then the second image of your first category, then the third image of your first category etc.

To make this change, in collagesDesktop, simply right click on the Webshow category on the left side, and select Sync Webshow. Your images will then flow according to category.

My Wedding Season Resolutions - Part II

Here are your top six wedding season resolutions - continued from Friday's post.

6. Let go. Find a portion of your business that you can outsource to a company that you trust. Giving away some of your control can be a good thing.

5. Think outside of the box. Use products in ways you haven’t used them before to increase your studio sales. For example, use albums to create wedding guest books with your couple’s engagement photos.

4. Remember to relax. Take at least one day off during the season to rejuvenate and relax. You deserve it!

3. Be thankful. Let your clients know that you appreciate their business by sending thank you cards after every transaction. By sending your clients one of our High-End Cards as a thank you, not only will your customers appreciate the note, but they’ll know where to go for their own cards.

2. Add some color. Show off your product possibilities. Instead of having just that black leather album as your studio sample, order an album in orange or lime green, too. From Imaging USA and WPPI to Boot Camp Seminars with Mitche Graf and Captivated by the Light with Ed Pierce, it’s been a whirlwind of a start to 2008, and it’s hard to believe that the spring season is just about here - even an extra day in February didn’t slow things down.

The rush of 2008 aside, I’m awed by the team here at Collages.net and simply floored with everything they’ve been able to deliver to you this past year. WPPI - Another Great Show!

Our marketing and sales team traveled to Vegas for the annual WPPI convention from March 17th-March 19th. Since the show opened on St. Patrick's Day, we held a Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway, where the first 100 photographers at the Collages.net booth - each day of the show - received $50 of lab prints from our lab.

At our booth, we featured the work of D2 Photography, Carrie Workman Photography, PW Photography, TriCoast Photography, Boucher Photography, BLR Life Photography, Candy Apple Photography, Limelight Photography, and The Shooting Gallery Photography. Their work looked absolutely beautiful - we are lucky to have such talented photographers!

On the last day of the show, we held a get together for Collages.net photographers. With wonderful company, a beautiful outdoor view of Vegas, and great food and drink, we had a wonderful time!

Collages.net's marketing associate Eileen Rafferty shares some tips on how you can increase your chances of becoming a winner: “We look at every website that is uploaded,” Eileen notes. “And, in choosing, we are more likely to give priority to the websites that have eye-catching feature photos.” What can you learn from this? Customer Service Tip - Custom Passwords

One question our photographers frequently ask refers to the event site password: can it be changed? The answer to this question is finally yes! Collages.net now offers custom passwords for your event sites. This new feature is currently only available through the online administration area, and it allows you (the photographer) to create an extension on your photographer code. For example, if your photographer code is 12345, you might create a custom password that looks something like this: 12345-678. Once you have created a custom password, guests can no longer log in to the event site with the normal password (12345). This custom password creates an extra layer of security to the event website, which can be particularly useful for those who post sensitive material online.

To change your event site password, follow these steps:

*Enter the admin area and go to the blue Event Manager tab.

*Enter the workflow of your chosen event and click on Edit Event Info.

*Find the line labeled “Custom Password” (The fourth line from the bottom).

*Enter the custom digits you would like to follow the normal password, and click Update.

With eight trade shows lined up, Collages.net’s customer service, marketing, and sales experts are already busy traveling the country during the first quarter of 2008.

Our first appearance was at PPA’s Imaging USA from January 6th – 8th in Tampa, Florida. We featured all of our product lines, met many new photographers, and touched base with long-term customers, all while enjoying the enthusiastic responses generated from our products.

Customer Service Tip – Tips to Keep in Mind When Creating a Price List

Creating a studio price list is one of the most important steps in the uploading process. This list aids in determining the size and amount of reprint orders you receive, as well as how much additional profit your studio will earn from your events. In order to help you make the most of your hard work, we have compiled this list of tips to consider when creating a price list in collagesDesktop software.

1. Price your products according to their perceived value. Don’t skimp on the price tag of your product because of its low cost to you. If it looks expensive, price it accordingly!

2. Offer bulk discounts on orders over a specific dollar amount. Don’t be afraid to use the discount tool in collagesDesktop. If customers see that they will receive a discount if they spend a certain amount, they are more likely to place larger orders.

3. Provide accurate product descriptions in the spaces provided. If a customer is apprehensive about a product, he or she more than likely will not order it. Make sure to provide specific product details to eliminate confusion.

4. Use the Special Comments box. If there is anything on your price list that you can’t specify in the product description, specify it in the Special Comments box! This can help to clarify questions your customers might have.

5. Use the 15% button. Created to save you the trouble of manually adding 15% to your prices, the 15% button ensures that the prices of your prints cover our service fee while still providing you with your desired profits.

6. Don’t forget about the Black and White and Sepia options. Even if you do not choose to charge your customers for these options, they are helpful in providing your customers with a visual reference to what their finished print will look like.

Collages.net's Annual Holiday Party

Once again, Collages.net’s annual company holiday party was a smashing success. Employees and their guests eagerly arrived at CEO Kevin Casey’s decked-out home early Friday evening. As singer and guitarist Jim Rollins provided live holiday music, Collages.net employees sipped on their drinks, enjoyed the wonderful company, and basked in the all-around holiday cheer.

After enjoying the delicious meal prepared by caterers Marie and Chelsea, CEO and COO Kevin and Norm brought their lively employees together in the heated tent to recognize Collages.net’s progress in 2007. “It would be impossible for me to name just one employee of the year,” announced Kevin. “Everything we’ve accomplished in the past year has been such a team effort.”
Under the guidance of Director of Marketing and Product Development Deirdre Gillin, Collages.net employees worked tirelessly to release a complete product line to our photographers in 2007. These products, which include albums, gallery wraps, proof books, and high-end cards, were made possible by Deirdre’s positive attitude and commitment to providing our customers with the highest-quality products. Because of her ceaseless efforts, everyone at Collages.net was pleased to join Kevin in presenting Deirdre with the well-deserved Director of the Year award!
Following the awards ceremony, the guests refilled their cups with Kevin’s infamous Christmas punch and gathered in the tent to play the annual company game. This year, employees were asked a series of work-related, humorous yet tasteful “yes” or “no” questions. Each question an employee answered positively entitled that employee to place his or her name in a basket for a chance to win the grand prize. The more positively answered questions, the greater the chance of winning! This year’s grand prize winner was Erik Matey of Customer Service, who took home a 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A560. Congratulations, Erik!

As the games and excitement drew down, the evening came to a close. Partygoers collected their coats, each remembering to take a gift from the grab bag before he or she departed. Although we are disappointed that this year’s party is over, we are reassured by our anticipation that next year’s Christmas party will be bigger and better, with even more reasons to celebrate!

Photo Plus 2007 - such a success!

The Photo Plus Exposition was held again this year in New York City, and for the first time in 2007, Collages.net displayed all four of our new product lines together. The show was from October 18th – October 20th – and the Collages.net crew had a wonderful time showcasing new products and meeting many new faces!

We had such a great response from all of our products - albums, gallery wraps, high-end cards, and proof books – and of course, we loved featuring our photographers’ beautiful work!
