Marketing Tips from Professional Photographer

These low-cost and free marketing tips come from the “Shoestring Marketing” article which appeared in Professional Photographer magazine this month. Learn how you can effectively market your studio and increase sales at a minimal cost.

Here are 3 of our favorite tips from the article:

1. Sell to Current Clients: it is much more difficult and expensive to obtain new clients than sell to existing ones. Instead of focusing large amounts of time and money targeting new clients, shift your focus on selling more to your current clientele.
2. Create a Loyalty Program: reward clients for their business, and provide them with incentive to use your studio again. Give loyal customers discounts, free products or sessions, or another type of bonus to thank them for their business and keep them coming back.
3. Keep in Touch: make sure to keep in touch with past clients – whether it’s through email, flyers, or even a personal phone call – it will remind them of your studio’s friendly, caring attitude. If people feel neglected, they will likely go elsewhere for business, while if they feel important, they will want to return to you.

Ways to Use Press Printed Books

Looking for creative ways to market press printed books to your clients? Look no further! We’ve come up with some fresh, new ideas to help you market books to a wide variety of clients and increase your sales.

Ways to use Press Printed Books:
Little Black Book - Create a “little black book” of boudoir photos. Perfect for boyfriends, fiancés, and husbands.
Baby Library - Create a library of several books that capture each stage of a baby’s life. From maternity photos through childhood, this little library will grow as the baby does.
Sports Action Book – Looking for a way to print sports images while preserving the action of the game? Put game shots in order, and relive the game’s action with the turn of every page.
Yearbook – Have your client select their favorite senior portrait images and choose a template that leaves white space around each image. Friends can sign right in the book, creating a completely customized yearbook.
Pre-wedding Favor – Show off your client’s engagement photos in a pre-wedding book. Get friends and family excited about the big day by sending it to them ahead of time.

Product Tip – Frame High-End Cards

Looking for a creative, personal gift idea to present to your clients? Encourage customers to purchase high-end cards as gifts. Have them order and send the cards for holidays, weddings, baby showers or any other event. Then, give them the idea to go out and purchase corresponding picture frames to fit the cards. Clients can send the card and frame as a package, or send the frame separately a week later as a surprise. After reading the card, recipients simply put it in the frame and they have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind gift.

Marketing Tip - Drive Traffic

Collecting e-mail addresses from event guests is an effective strategy for increasing profit from online sales. By gathering e-mails, your event guests will be notified when the event they attended has been activated. They can then log in to the event, view their images, and make purchases. This process is fast and easy, and will greatly benefit your studio. Start collecting e-mail addresses today! You can also send your e-mail addresses to customerservice@collages.net or fax them in and we will enter the addresses for you.

Spotlight: Customer Service Manager Abbey

We interviewed Abbey, Collages.net’s Customer Service Manager, for our newsletter this month and she told us all about Customer Service here at Collages.net. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

What’s your favorite part about being Customer Service Manager for Collages.net?
Our photographers! I love talking to photographers and developing personal relationships with them. Since I have been here for three years, I have really gotten to know many photographers and watch them grow. I began speaking with some photographers when they were just starting out, and now they have highly-successful studios. I enjoy helping them expand and succeed. I also love that Collages.net grows alongside our photographers. We help them by creating new products and services to meet their needs, and they help us by providing insights that help us grow and change. It’s an amazing experience watching photographers achieve their dreams.
